The Extraordinary Brexit Summit should take place on November 25, President of the European Council Donald Tusk said on Thursday, November 15, Interfax reports.
“If nothing extraordinary happens, then we will hold the the European Council meeting for completing Brexit treaty and giving it the official status. It will happen on Sunday, November 25, at 09:30”, he said during the press conference with participation of European Chief Negotiator for theUnited Kingdom Exiting the European Union Michel Barnier.
Tusk noted that on November 25, the summit will be preceded by some meetings and discussions. In particular, from Thursday, all EU members will thoroughly study this treaty and, by end of the week, the ambassadors of all EU countries will meet for its discussion. “I hope we will not have many remarks”, Tusk noted.
“They will also discuss the mandate of the European Commission on finalizing the political declaration on further relationships between UK and EU”, he added, specifying that Interior Ministers of EU countries will be involved in this process.
The European Commission is expected to complete working on the declaration by November 20, and within the next 48 hours, 27 EU countries will be able to assess it.
As is known, the day before, the Parliament and UK government approved the wording of Brexit treaty.
